Burdock is in the same family as daisies and dandelions, and flowers from July to October. This plant is native to Europe, Asia and Africa. The young leaves and roots are used in cooking, especially in European and Asian cuisine. Burdock studies have shown the leaf to have anti-microbial properties, and may offer a natural alternative to heal burns and minor skin injuries when used in a prepared salve. Its anti-inflammatory properties have also been used to treat digestive problems and may be a useful complement to care for digestive problems (consult your health care practitioner). It helps support overall optimal health, and is particularly supportive to maintain healthy skin and digestion. Some individuals may have an allergic reaction which may result in contact dermatitis.
